Starting this Tuesday with a dose of New England charm, a sweet couple, and beautiful moments from their Codman Estate wedding this past weekend. That couple is Erika and Jon and I’m excited to share more about their story and some favorites from their wedding day.
They had me at North Carolina.
Well, that’s part of the story.
After some time spent in North Carolina, Jon moved up to Boston for graduate school. That move eventually led to he and Erika crossing paths through an old high school mate of Erika’s who was also friends with Jon.
They formally met on a skiing trip where one of them needed a few skiing tips or safety protection.
The post skiing trip would lead to their exchanging phone numbers and eventually a blossoming relationship.
As their relationship continued to grow, It was clear to their family and friends that they were meant to be. In fact, their parents were in constant anticipation of Jon proposing. Thanksgiving, Christmas, the New Year, and Valentine’s Day were all high-level anticipation days.
On the second night of an impromptu trip to Bermuda, while exploring the edge of the island and watching the night sky, Jon asked Erika to marry him and she said yes. LOVE!!
Their Codman Estate wedding landed on the first day of fall and the day was lovely. The ceremony setting was stunningly elegant with the most gorgeous Italian gardens, sculptures, and a reflecting pool.
Through an exchange of heartfelt vows filled with tears and laughter as they spoke, they promised to love, support, and respect each other forever surrounded by love from their family and friends.
Sheer joy was expressed on both of their faces as they walked back down the aisle together.
After the ceremony, we took a few more family and wedding party photos and then set off to walk around the property for more pictures of just the two of them.
They were able to join the cocktail hour for a short time as we made our way back down the gravel path road leading to the carriage house and stopping for moments in between.
The toasts were encouraging and filled with humorous one-liners, the dancing and singing out loud were the best, and I think Erika and Jon would not want me to end without mentioning that the donuts were delicious!!
Congratulations, Erika and Jon!! It was an honor to be part of your wedding day and celebrate with you! Big hugs to you both!! xo, Shawon
