I had no attentions of writing a post about Mother’s Day and why I love being a mom today.  In fact, I was preparing to finish up the series on how to use your engagement pictures.

While hashtag Mother’s Day 2016 is no longer a trending topic, my morning started with thoughts of gratitude and a few reminders of why  I love being a mom.

Mother’s Day and Why I love being a mom…

I love being a mom because blueberry waffles for breakfast reciprocate the biggest bright eyes and smiles that say I love you.

I love being a mom because text messages with your teenage son back and forth before school starts about last minute prom decisions reminds me that although he will soon leave for college he still needs me.

I love being a mom because listening to a public speaking assignment on the car ride to school about kindness towards other from the heart of a fourteen year old reminds me that to love God and to love others has been impressed upon a heart.

There are a few things in my life that I know for sure, and one is that I was born to be a mom.

When you are older you will understand how precious little things, seemingly of no value in themselves, can be loved and prized above all price when they convey the love and thoughtfulness of a good heart. Edwin Booth

Being a mom has been one of my greatest life lessons.  My three beautiful children have taught me so much about myself, about forgiveness, about grace, about love, about listening, and about courage.  They’ve also taught me how to take a selfie, how to close all the apps on my phone, and recently how to use Snapchat (I’m still working on that).

So although Mother’s Day is celebrated one day out of the year, my gratitude for being a mom never stops.

Yes, some days are challenging, Yes, it is the hardest job in the world, Yes, toddlers and teenagers can be tough, but…

Yes, to a gift that I never want to take for granted.

Have a wonderful day!
