This weekend I had the honor of traveling up to Vermont for Shannon and Kyle’s beautiful Grafton Inn wedding.
When I spoke with Shannon in June of last year, excitement was expressed in every sentence as she shared more about her and Kyle and the vision for their wedding day. One of the things that stood out the most was the love they both had for their close knit families. They were looking forward to seeing the whole family together and celebrating their wedding day as a family reunion with love, love, love.
It was an entire weekend with their family as they had activities planned at Grafton Inn that included a welcome dinner, swimming at the pond, lawn games, and a farewell breakfast.
The wedding ceremony was held in the Community Garden that was in full bloom and gorgeous.
These two love to laugh together and there were many laugh out loud moments during their ceremony.
Moments like envisioning the first time they met that was described as a classic boy meets girl story.
You know the story, right?!
Boy meets girl. Girl, although always full of witty banter, stumbles through saying hello. Boy flips open his phone and asks for her number because he has to see her again.
Or, moments like envisioning them riding in Shannon’s Ford Focus during their first summer together singing tunes that will always be a part of their story.
After their ceremony, we walked down to Kidder Bridge for a time for them to exchange private vows with one another.
Everything about their day was simply sweet and filled with inhales and exhales of them enjoying their wedding day.
The Falvey Wedding March is a huge family tradition that began by Shannon’s grandfather many years ago and has continued on.
After Shannon’s dad gave a speech, the march to the singing of “O When the Saints Go Marching” In began. The march was led by Shannon’s dad carrying her grandfather’s American Flag and the bride and groom behind him and family in line thereafter.
They marched from the Phelps Barn through the dining room and back out. If it were not for the rain, Shannon’s dad said that they would have marched through the streets.
As they were led back into the Phelps Barn, they all joined in singing “God Bless America”, all gathered around the bride and groom with tear filled eyes, joy, love and happiness.
Shannon and Kyle, it was an absolute delight and honor to be part of your wedding day. I love your hearts, the love that you have for your family, and the love that you have for each other. Have an amazing honeymoon!! I’m sure that you will find some hidden gems together!! xo, Shawon
