Last year, I stepped out and started a personal photography project of making a picture every single day of the year. Yes, it was a daunting personal project. I made it consistently to day 163, and then an awesome wedding season happened. I didn’t stop the project completely, and I’m so thankful that I didn’t.
Even though I didn’t photograph every single day, the strides I made were beyond what I imagined. Just as a pianist studies and practices daily to hone their craft, I know that as a professional photographer I need that same diligence in order to always be fresh and training myself constantly to see the world in different ways. Some days were trying new techniques, or lighting scenarios, and some days could just be quick snapshots of life going on around me. I took my camera with me everywhere.
Because I love personal photo projects, I have started my 365 journey again. I’m usually an all or nothing kinda girl, but I know that the results and the why I’m choosing this project again far out way the what if I only make it to Day 163. I read a word of advice that James Brown gave to Usher and it has stuck with me…”If you stay ready, you ain’t gotta get ready.” And on that note, here are some favorites from week one of my 365 project.
I found a little inspiration in the backyard. I’m not sure what kind of tree this is, but this is the last of what appears to be some type of berry.
The last of the Christmas decorations-our wreath from the front door.
