Although rain is headed our way, I think that Alex and Matt’s Deer Island engagement session photos will put a dose of sunshine in your day. Read more about their story, some of the things they love, and enjoy a few favorites from their engagement session.

Alex and Matt met almost six years ago. Matt became friends with one of Alex’s friends and they did everything together as a group with their friends and simply as friends. Movies, dinners, fun nights out, you name it, with their group of friends.

Their friendship would later blossom into a beautiful relationship that you will see in every single frame of their engagement session.

When I first chatted with them over the phone, I could literally see them both smiling with every sentence.

That’s exactly how they were together for their engagement session. Smiling together the entire time.

This August, at the onset of a week visiting at The Cape, Matt was adamant that they go for a walk on the beach their first night there. That night, Alex said yes to more adventures with Matt as he asked her to marry him.

The timing could not have been more perfect as their family joined them the next day and were all able to celebrate with them.

They love paddle boarding, tennis, their dogs Teddy and Bear and their cat Izabel. A new love might also be their engagement session location at Deer Island.

I think I said it at least 20 times or more, and I’m saying it again, Deer Island is amazingly beautiful. I love that while Boston is a big bustling city, it also has quiet hidden places tucked away to enjoy beautiful moments.

Deer Island is one of those places and it’s located in Winthrop, MA just outside the city and is part of the Boston Harbor Islands. There are walking trails, a view of harbor and skyline from several vantage points.

Because the sun was still high in the sky when we arrived, I scouted a location wedged between a few trees that had the most amazing glow. We hung out there for a bit before walking one of the main paths that allowed me to create some beautiful silhouettes and we had plenty of time for dancing in between.

Alex and Matt, I had the best time with you two and I can’t wait for your wedding next year! I still want to know what playlist you kept singing at every opportunity to dance, and I will always smile whenever I hear or see creme brulee!
