Take a stroll through Nancy’s Garden with me and discover the valuable lessons it teaches about building a remarkable brand and business.
Have you ever strolled through a beautiful garden and felt an overwhelming sense of tranquility and beauty?
This is exactly what I experienced last week when I visited my sweet friend Nancy for lunch.
Not only were we having lunch, BUT I would finally get to see her beautiful gardens in person❤️
Let me tell you, the pictures I’d seen simply didn’t do it justice. The moment I arrived, I was overwhelmed with awe.
At every turn, there was something new and exciting to explore.
It was as if each corner of her garden had its own story🌸
Little did I know, I’d come away from this visit not only having spent time with my friend in her beautiful gardens but also with some valuable lessons.
And, I’m sharing a few of them with you💕
Nancy’s Garden and the Valuable Lessons it Taught Me About Building a Brand
Lesson #1: Good things take time and patience.
Nancy’s garden didn’t magically appear overnight. It took time and dedication to carve out each beautiful space. Just like your brand, creating something truly remarkable requires patience and a willingness to put in the necessary effort.
Lesson #2: Be intentional.
Every flower was thoughtfully planted in specific locations to ensure it received the right amount of light and nourishment. Being greeted by the sounds of beautiful wind chimes and clusters of flowers all made me smile. Her Wowie Zowie Zinnias were showstoppers in the sun!
When we put thought and intention into every element of our brand—it leaves our clients feeling special, the way I did at Nancy’s.
Lesson #3: Know who you want to attract.
Nancy’s garden was teeming with hummingbirds, drawn to the vibrant flowers she strategically planted to attract them. If you’re wondering, one of those flowers is a Lantana. This reminded me of the power of knowing the clients you want to attract. By knowing who you want to attract, you can tailor your messaging, marketing, and experiences for them.
Lesson #4: You need a roadmap.
To achieve the stunning array of colors throughout the summer, Nancy had a strategy that included a plan with over 50 potted plants. From sentimental cascading hydrangeas to some of the tallest purple phlox that I’ve seen, every space was stunning. Similarly, in business, having a well-thought-out strategy is vital for success. It acts as a roadmap, guiding our daily actions to ensure we reach our goals.
Lesson #5: Your big-picture vision is EVERYTHING.
Although I didn’t ask her, I imagine Nancy had a big-picture vision for her garden. A vision of lunches with friends surrounded by flowers, welcoming clients to her cottage, visits from sweet hummingbirds, and relaxing evenings sipping cocktails with her husband. This overarching vision guided her decisions and gave her purpose.
Having a clear vision for your brand is a guide to map out your goals, informs the things you say yes to, and compels you to stay focused on your true north.
My visit to Nancy’s gardens was a beautiful reminder that creating something remarkable takes time, intentionality, and vision.🌸
