Get More Done With These 5 Productivity Hacks

Have you ever wished you had an extra hour (or five) in your day?

As entrepreneurs, it can feel like there’s never enough time. We always seem to be rushing from one task to the next, trying to meet a deadline, juggling work life with family life…

Unfortunately, there’s no way to add more time to the clock… But what if you could use your time more effectively by getting more done, more quickly,  and more ease?

In my own business, I’ve been able to develop a handful of systems and processes that help me make the most of my time. The productivity hacks I’m about to share have been absolute game-changers for me—so if you’re looking for a way to ‘get more bang for your buck’ when it comes to maximizing your time, these are the 5 tips I’d recommend implementing first.

5 Productivity Hacks to Get More Done

Tip #1: A Great Day Starts With Setting a Great Tone

How do you start your day? Your morning routine can have a huge impact on how the rest of the day unfolds.

When you begin your morning in a rush or feeling stressed, those feelings can easily carry over into the rest of your day. And likewise, when you own your morning and set the right tone, it’s easier to feel in control of your day.

To create the right energy in your day, try expanding your morning routine to include an activity like journaling, prayer, meditation, or even just taking time to write down a few things you feel grateful for. You could also try introducing some physical movement into your morning plan.

There’s no one ‘right way’ to set your day up for success, so try a few different morning habits on for size and see what leaves you feeling your best.

Tip #2: Take Care of Your Most Important Task First

Raise your hand if you’ve ever opened up your email inbox first thing in the morning! I think we’ve all been there… But really, that’s rarely the best place to start.

When deciding on your most important task, it’s important to ask yourself what your big goals are for the month. Break those goals down into actionable steps and spend the first two hours of every single day working through these business-building tasks.

Tip #3: Assign Specific Tasks to Specific Days of the Week

I LOVE this hack! As business owners, we usually feel like we’re juggling a hundred different things. From operations, to serving our clients, to creating content, to marketing, networking, consultations, revenue generation, elevating our client experience…. And the list goes on!

It’s easy to feel like we’re constantly chipping away at tasks but never really making serious progress. To avoid that feeling, I recommend assigning certain days of the week for specific tasks.

Not sure where to start? Begin by writing down everything you need to do in a week to move the needle forward in your business. Then, assign each category of tasks to a specific day and start time-blocking your tasks. It’ll come together more easily than you think!

Tip #4: Batch Work

Did you know we can lose a significant amount of time and energy each day to task-switching? When it comes to dealing with repeating/recurring tasks, it’s better to batch projects together so you can stay focused, pour all your energy into one thing, and do your best work.

Great tasks to batch work include things like:

  1. Filming videos
  2. Writing blog posts
  3. Recording podcasts
  4. Creating Pinterest pins
  5. Planning social media content

When we group these tasks together, we get them off our plate and free up our mental space for bigger, more CEO-level strategy work.

Tip #5: Review Your Processes

At the end of each month, it’s important to set aside time to review what’s working in your business… And what isn’t. Plan a block of 2-4 hours where you can look back at your processes and decide what’s serving you, and what could be improved.

In your review, ask yourself: Did you leave enough time and energy for the activities you really need to do to grow your business? Are you being intentional with the habits and frameworks you use to plan your days?

Schedule this review day on your calendar ahead of time so you can make sure to carve out enough time to celebrate your wins and strategize in the areas that need some work.

Bonus Tip: Take care of yourself!

The phrase ‘self-care’ gets thrown around a lot, but when it comes to boosting your productivity, taking care of yourself is one of the most important things you can do.

It’s not always easy to carve out self-care time, but if we want to meet our goals, it’s essential that we get enough rest and take time to recharge between busy weeks. The first step to growing a profitable and sustainable business is making sure you’re able to consistently show up and do your best work… And that means making self-care a priority,  always.
